Back to Blogging

Posted by Cathy at 10:00 PM 2 comments
AND I AM BACK!!
After the long summer on my cruise internship I have ignored my blog. It also does not help that my camera is now missing it's usb cord to connect. Between 8 classes, a job and looking for a job after graduation I was exhausted and my laptop was the last thing I wanted to be on.

Well, here is an update. I am still broke, still in love with fashion but there are some changes. I accepted a job offer with White Lodging Management company as a Food & Beverage Manager in Richmond, Virginia. I am going there on Saturday to look for an apartment I will let you know how that goes.

Here is the last time I was out at Penn State this semester before Thanksgiving Break
Borrowed the tie and the glasses from a friend after a couple of shots with my girls.

And here is my boyfriend for his Boardwalk Empire themed event and my friend Taylor

I promise that I will be better at this whole updating thing. It should not be hard since I don't know anyone in Virginia and will be really lonely. Plan for the next six weeks: Work all the time, blog at home, sleep..start over

Dress: Forever 21

Itching to Purchase!!

Posted by Cathy at 6:13 PM 3 comments
It is my fourth week on this cruise and I have been online shopping everyday, but I haven't purchased yet. I am going to wait until I come home and go on a shopping spree after I know how much I save but here are my picks since I don't have time to get dressed up and go out.
This is a dress from Urban Outfitters, I just love the pattern and the fit of the dress it is way cute and something I can wear to go out in both at night and in professional wear.
This is my Penn State going out girl coming out courtesy of American Apparel. The form fitting dresses are cute and I like to wear high heels with my short clothing to show off. It is something simple and sexy just how I like it!
I think this one may be my favorite, it is from Mod Cloth. It works as both a trendy and timeless piece at the same time. I love the subtle details and the collar to the dress. It has all the trimmings but not too much to make it over the top. The bubble bottom, the flip collar the buttons and pleats on the chest..tooo cuteee!

Until next time, hopefully I will have enough time to get dressed up soon

I'm On A Boat

Posted by Cathy at 10:50 AM 3 comments
HELLO!
I know it has been awhile since I blogged, but I just started my internship with American Cruise Lines. The people here are great, the staff is a total of 14 people not including managers and the captain.

We work 12-14 hour days, 7 days a week. It is a lot of hard work and it is HOT! So, obviously I have not had time to get dressed and taken a picture since I only been in my uniform or pajamas. I will be sure to take a picture soon though. I was only able to pack my bare necessities in a medium sized duffel bag, so I don't really have that much to wear but I will definitely try my best.
This is how close the planes are to us while we were training on the boat at The Ship Yard.
These are some of the girls I work with, all ten of us live together. I don't know why my hair is being weird and my face ugh. I was taking them out to have their first Philly Cheesesteak before we left for port.
We just left from the port of Havre De Grace, MD. It was so beautiful, I wish I was able to go out and sight see but I was working all day.

Until Next Time

Feeling Nautical

Posted by Cathy at 7:51 AM 5 comments
As most of you know I am leaving on TUESDAY for my internship with American Cruise Lines. I will sailing up and down the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac Bay (I can't wait for lobster fest). It's going to be hard being on a ship for 8 weeks working 12-14 hour days but I think I can make it through. I have been thinking about this more and more as it is quickly approaching which would explain my attire!
I am wearing my oatmeal sailor shorts from Express. These shorts are made from linen so they are extra comfortable. For those who do not know me, I always wear long shirts or tanks. Because the sailor short is so unique with their buttons I tucked my Pink/White tunic in! Which brings me to the stripes of my shirt.

Accessories? Why yes! I am wearing a flower ball I got at the J. Crew outlet for only $15 on our way back from the beach. The bracelet I am wearing is a thrifted gold chain with a colorful satin cloth running through the rings. I am wearing my shell watch from White House Black Market, and through in some gladiator sandals I bought from Express for $8 with my discount (they are currently 50%).
Have a good weekend on my way to enjoy some sushi and help my sister plan her September Wedding and hopefully, one more before I ship off!

Shoedazzle

Posted by Cathy at 5:48 PM 3 comments
I forgot to bring my camera on my trip to Penn State. I am here moving up to my new apartment before I leave for my internship. So, I am going to have to result in my finds. Today's find? SHOEDAZZLE! www.shoedazzle.com is an amazing website co founded by Kim Kardashian.

It is essentially a shoe club. You pay a monthly fee of $39.95 and that includes a pair of shoes, plus the cost of shipping and handling. When you register, they make you fill out a survey to understand what kinds of colors and styles you would like. Each month the five stylists including Kim Kardashian picks a shoe for your showroom. You get a choice of five pairs of shoes to choose from for them to send to you.

If you decide that you do not want to purchase any shoes that month just pause it between the 1st and the 5th of the month . You just have to remember to pause it or you will be credited an extra shoe and they will deduct money from your credit card. They have a great variety of shoes and the quality is great.

Here is my showroom this month what should I choose?
Claudette, Boulevard, Next
Eliza, Amrita

Personally, I think I am in love with Claudette and Boulevard.

If you want to JOIN SHOEDAZZLE. Post your email and I will send you a personal invitation to the club.

New PB & J Dress!

Posted by Cathy at 11:23 PM 4 comments
So, I have found a new favorite store. It is PB & J Boutique. Their line of clothing is best described as Casual Clothing , but I would like to also add CUTE!
The make of the dress is Mystree from PB & J Boutique and can be found on page 2! The dress is amazing, it is zipped up and can zip down all the way. The ruffles follow the line of the zipper as well as the neck line of the dress. There is also a drawstring in the middle of the dress that really shows off my figure. It is so comfortable, the drawstring waist is not too tight but gives a great illusion of a hour glass body. Another great attribute to the dress is the pockets. It gives it a very casual look but when I paired it with a pair of peep toe pumps I am ready to tackle my day and strut my stuff everywhere I go.
Because the dress is a shade in-between green and black I wanted to make it a bohemian style by adding some dark rich colors to really make it pop. I added this cloth style bracelet I found at a consignment store for only $2 and my necklace is a hand me down from my sister from who knows where.

If anyone is interested in their clothing go to their website located at the right of my page and enter the PROMO CODE PENN FOR 20% OFF. They are extremely nice and helpful so don't be afraid to email them. I would like to thank Erica for sending me this dress to review. The sweater and shirts are so unique and can be worn so many different ways. BRAVO!

Happy Memorial Day

Posted by Cathy at 8:47 AM 2 comments
Okay, So I am a day late, but HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! Unfortunately, I worked all weekend and the holiday and my next day is not until Thursday. I can't wait to go to the beach with my boyfriend! It will be great to have some quality time before I leave for my internship on the cruise ship.

Being that I had to work, yet another day, I wanted to wear something comfortable and something that would keep me cool. I opted for a maxi dress. This one I got at Express, the color and pattern is so beautiful. Don't be fooled by the length, it is comfortable and cool and not too heavy on. I decided to curl my hair and comb it out to give it more of an exotic look for some reason. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.
If you are looking for a maxi dress yourself, Express (www.express.com) is having a sale on their maxi dresses at 30% off their original price of 59.50! Also, AX PARIS USA (www.axparisusa.com) has a beautiful selection of maxi dresses and they have a promo code for 20% off: the code is PENNSTATE. Their dresses are so cheap and the quality and feel is great plus that extra 20% is so helpful. I am currently waiting on the stuff I bought with the discount, I can't wait to try them on and review!
It was so hot and I was feeling silly. So this is me on a regular basis making dumb remarks and dumb faces.

Keeping it Basic

Posted by Cathy at 4:38 PM 7 comments
Another hot, hot day in Delaware. So as repetitive as it is I decided to wear pretty much the same looking outfit again. This time I just stuck with your basic colors: white, navy and tan. I pulled a essential white button down (with some extra opaque design detailing plus a bow) and lifted my navy blue skirt up and tied it together with a gray/purple linking belt.
For my shoes I wore a double Mary Jane knock off in a tan color. The company that made these shoes are Anne Michelle I think..They have such a great variety of shoes and colors to go with any mood and outfit.
For some extra fun I threw in some Ann Taylor loft bracelets I found for $10 each! I decided to wear both the silver and gold since it would make great accents with the color scheme I was going with.
I feel these pieces are so essential to my closest because it is timeless and will never go out of fashion. The only thing you have to do is change the way you wear them and what you pair it with and you're ready to start the day!

Breeze With Side Of Skirt

Posted by Cathy at 8:52 PM 3 comments
It's an extremely hot day out and I was in need of something with a little breeze (Excuse my wet hair it was too humid to even think about whipping out a dryer). I decided to pair an old brown floral skirt with a navy blue tank. I just love mixing different colors together. And to tie it all in I wore a thrifted bronze gem necklace I got for only $2. (One of my favorite finds)
I felt great wearing the skirt. Not only was I comfortable and free, I felt in season and style. For the upcoming season expect to see a lot of flowy skirts with basics tops and a skinny belt to tie the look together. Wear sandals or wedges during the day, trade in your tank/tee for a silky blouse and a slimmer heel at night.

Rompin' It

Posted by Cathy at 5:42 AM 3 comments
Gotta make this quick before I leave for work. It looks like a beautiful day out and weather channel says its going to be a sunny one! I know I have a hectic day at Express, moving sale and whatnot, so I decided to wear my purple romper!! I wanted to belt it with a bracelet and matching necklace but I could not find the belt...I guess I didn't bring everything home from school yet.
I know its a change for some people and some may call it a jumpsuit, but it's a romper and its super comfortable. Plus, it is one of those pieces that should be a staple in your closet! It is great for everyday wear and if you need a quick going out outfit, you're in the money. Pair it up with some cute accessories or add some shape with a belt.
So here is my purple romper with a great feather flowered headband I got on sale at Charlotte Russe! (Enjoy my fan on the side) I am ready to attack my day of work and errands, only three days left until my sister's engagement ceremony. ITS CRUNCH TIME
Some crash while taking my pictures eek.

In The Grey Haze

Posted by Cathy at 10:52 AM 1 comments
Back home from school! I am back to working at Express, at least until my internship starts on the cruise ship. (Don't get too excited..it is a 55+ cruise ship) Again, I have been lacking on my posts. My sister's engagement party is next Sunday so there is so much prep work to be done.

Unlike yesterday, today is hot and humid. I think the high is 83 and it is supposed to rain too, which will make it worse. Luckily, I will be working tonight and the air conditioner should be on.
I wanted to wear something that will give me a breezy look combined with a night look.
I got the shirt a little while ago before I left for Vegas for Spring Break. It is now one of my favorites, it can be worn casual and dressy plus it is super comfortable.

The owl watch necklace I found randomly at F21 waiting for my friend to return something. I have seen a couple people wear owl necklaces and always wanted one. I finally saw one with cute colorful watch numbers and the best part is it was only $6! The earrings I got from express, one of the many things I accumulated after working there for 4 years.
Have a great weekend everyone, enjoy the beautiful weekend! By the way, I want to purchase a curler, not anything expensive but one that works well with straight hair?

Boston Proper

Posted by Cathy at 3:41 PM 3 comments
Sorry for neglecting my blog, but I didn't bring my laptop to Boston. First! DOES ANYONE SHOP AT LULUS? They are giving my readers 15% off, the code is EXTRATRIMMINGS.

Kevin and I visited our friend Tim in Boston and had a blast! As you can see we went to the Celtics vs. Cavaliers game which was really fun. But I have to say there are some hard core fans crazy people out there.
One of our nights we went to a place called "The Beehive" I would recommend everyone to check this place out if you like jazz, great food and a place to relax with your friends. Here is their website http://www.beehiveboston.com/
While we were there our waitress, who I believe is to be Kevin's beer-mate had a really great bohemian outfit. I love the sequin vest, the back was a skinny racerback and the pattern on her skirt was pretty. She wore a simple two by two tank to pull the whole outfit together and added a pink pearl necklace. It was a lot of different unique components that blended well together.

We also went to the Sam Adam's Brewery. That was amazing, free beer tasting at the end and a pretty great looking cup to keep as the souvenir. We also visited Man vs. Food Barking Crab restaurant. The New England Clam Chowder was amazing and the amounts of food they gave us was amazing. The seafood was so fresh!

Unfortunately, I did not really take pictures of myself while in Boston with the crazy wind and rain we encountered. But I did take a picture when we got home from our trip. It is safe to say that my entire outfit was from express, except for the belt which was thrifted and the shoes which were from F21.
